Director : Evan Richards
Story : Evan Richards
Starring : Lorraine Pilkington, Finlay Robertson
Some movies are based on a very simply story line, don't boast of a famous cast or crew, are shot in most common of locations but still manage to hold the attention of the viewer. In a Day is one such an effort from Evan Richards, that really manages to hold its own.
Even though the film reminded me of Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise and its sequel Before Sunset, however it still had me glued to the screen for the 80 odd minutes it lasted.
This is a movie, which has nothing extraordinary, most of the sequences you see, would give a sense of Deja-vu, you will feel that you have already seed this before. And thats true, I also felt that it borrowed heavily from large number of movies. All in all its not what a critic will like or a purist would like.
However as a simple viewer, it managed to bring smile on my face on more than one occasion. The sequences even though predictable, sometimes cliched, were bound well together and looked real.
The story starts when Ashley (Lorraine Pilkington) has an off day and is waiting for her bus at bus-stop, where she has a bad encounter with a stranger and right after that she encounters another stranger Michael (Finlay Robertson) and that leads to one event after another.
Both the lead actors have done a wonderful job, and deserve applause for their performance. Nothing much is there from the writing point of view, however direction seems to be good.
My Rating : 8/10
